When life throws unexpected challenges like medical emergencies, evictions, or family hardships, pet owners may struggle to care for their animals. At Atlanta Humane, our Pets in Crisis Support program steps in to help.

The program provides temporary housing and care for pets, giving families the time they need to regain stability without having to surrender their pets to a shelter.

Bentley’s mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, which meant weekly medical appointments and hospital stays. Caring for Bentley during this time became overwhelming.

Bentley’s mom shared, “It took so much weight off of me because while I was healing in the hospital, I was so worried about him… because of this program, I no longer had that worry and could just focus on healing…”

Thanks to our Pets in Crisis Support program, Bentley and his mom were reunited when she was ready, and they’re happily back together.

The Atlanta Humane Society is committed to helping pets and families stay together, no matter what life brings.

Bentley’s story is just one example of how our Pets in Crisis Support program is making a difference. If you would like to learn more about this program and how you can help families in crisis stay together, please visit the program page.
